As you may have picked up from recent posts, I've spent a lot of time with this issue lately. Below is the result of that time and some significant frustration trying to create a visual flow of the issues. As it happens, many other issues only matter to certain brown boxes (like total depravity is only an issue on the left). Also, the 3 brown boxes on the left are all Christian positions. The 4th may be. The 5th (box on the right) is not. If you see any error, let me know.Anyway, I know this is remarkably boring. I'll do better, I promise. I'm finishing the test for this class tonight (Wendy's recent post is much more authentic). But a couple of you may find it useful (I have a PowerPoint version that builds the chart as it goes--just ask). Thanks Kelly for the pic--your name is well preserved in the PowerPoint version and title slide, but no Kelly Michelle....
The tree represents original sin (am I guilty or not?). The fire represents salvation (who lights the spark and initiates--me or God?).

Yeah, it looks good but I don't get it, I think I need more back ground information and I have a feeling I would have to enroll into DTS to get it ;)

I'm with Lisa, it's a lttle confusing.
I'll walk ya'll through the powerpoint sometime. The big issue is whether God initiates salvation or we do. And, once it's initiated, does he save me or can I work my way to it. The guys on the left think he initates and he completes it because original sin makes me unable to move toward God on my own and unable to ever earn salvation. The guys on the right believe we initiate it and we earn it because we are able to do so. The middle ground folks usually refer to some aspect of grace (like God gives a certain ammount to all people) that allows us to initiate the process (spontaneous free will) with the Roman Catholics holding that I must partake of sacraments in order to continue receiving grace and thereby further the process of salvation (it's not a process on the far left).
