King

Ok, so this isn't going to be more fun. That last one shows the relationship between free will and original sin and our need for grace. This one's a little more accessible and you can look it up.

There are eleven prophecies in the gospel of Matthew where Matthew specifically points out fulfillment. They're a little weird until you see two things: One, Matthew is writing to explain how Jesus is the King of the Jews but they rejected him. The stories take place in the past and show what happened. Two, the prophecies weren't fulfilled in the way we use that word. It's more like they were satisfied. And, some of them are less about Jesus and more about how he parallels something that happened to Israel (like they were rescued from Egypt and so was he). When that clicks, they make a lot of sense, but even better, they tell a story. Matthew was using the references to Old Testament events to explain who Jesus was and to tell they story all over again in a beautiful and elaborate way.

I just finished this for class tomorrow. The story is on the right. If I get a bad grade, I'll fix this post--so don't go preaching any sermons with this yet!

So, can we start preaching this yet?

I got the gist right! He may make some changes, but I think it's safe. Let me know where you're preaching--there are some good books being written right now about the female pastor issue stuff ;-)

Thanks for this

I'm still nervous about how the disciples quote the OT at times, but this puts it in at least a much better perscepctive than I've had in the past. Some of it still seems like a bit of a stretch... maybe I'm just synical...

do not mock my spelling. I am a genius and as such, I will rewrite the american language in my image! Don't question it...

Steve,
I have a question. Is presentation (photos, clip art, powerpoint etc) part of your all around grade or is it just content? I really enjoy looking at how you present your work. It is obvious that you spend a lot of time and thought on each individual assignment and I think they look great!

Kels,

Sometimes creativity counts, but most of it is just content so long as the layout is easy to follow. Only certain classes allow for charts and stuff. Dr. K (Sin and Destiny) encourages creativity and that helps with motivation, but it's really more about me making something I (or someone else) can use later and I really enjoy doing it. A lot of assignments give us the chance to study things we wish we could but would never usually have the time, so I dig in when I can use it. And as much as I wish I were more mature, I still try to impress my teachers!

Having some great photos lying around really helps!

Um...awesome. A must have for the collection. Please share. This would be very handy - especially for anyone witnessing to a Jewish person who knew the OT prophecies.

Nice comment by Mike - "re-write the English language" - excellent.

Very creative, too.

That's great! We'll i think you do a great job. You're creative and obviously it's working! I'm headed out to DRG this afternoon. Kilraine is going to camp. I haven't been out there in AGES! Mom says I won't even recognize it :)
